Stuart Brown – Founder / Managing Director

Mr. Brown has over eighteen years of investment banking and private equity experience. Prior to HamptonRock Partners, Mr. Brown was a Partner with BV Investment Partners, a middle-market private equity firm focused in technology and IT services, where he was a member of the investment committee and was responsible for sourcing, executing and managing investment opportunities across multiple industries.

Prior to BV, Mr. Brown spent fourteen years providing merger and acquisition advisory services to both public and private clients across a variety of situations and industries. Mr. Brown was Managing Director and head of multiple industry groups at a tech-enabled services focused Dallas-based advisory firm. Mr. Brown worked as a member of the investment banking team with Citigroup, in New York, and began his investment banking career with Stephens Inc.

Over the course of Mr. Brown’s career he has specialized in advising private, founder and family owned businesses as they seek a strategic or financial partner, implement acquisition strategies or raise capital for strategic business growth. He has been a frequent speaker on middle-market M&A trends. Mr. Brown received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of the South at Sewanee and his MBA from Wake Forest University.

Stephen Hardin – Managing Director

Mr. Hardin is a Managing Director and Partner of HamptonRock. He maintains over fifteen years of middle-market mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory experience across a wide array of industries.

Prior to HamptonRock, Mr. Hardin was a Director with Houlihan Lokey, a global investment bank with expertise in mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, financial restructuring, and valuation, where he was responsible for originating, structuring and executing transactions.

Prior to joining Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Hardin was part of the corporate finance group at Wachovia Securities. Before that, he was part of the investment banking division in Merrill Lynch’s New York office. Earlier, he was an Associate in the operations group at Maverick Capital and a Senior Associate in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ business assurance division.

Mr. Hardin graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University with a B.B.A. and an M.S. in Accounting, and he holds an MBA from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University. He holds the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst and is a Certified Public Accountant.
