Mr. Villarreal is the practice leader and a founding officer of HamptonRock’s Transaction Advisory and CFO Services practice. He has significant leadership and transaction experience and has spent the entirety of his almost 15 year professional services career providing financial due diligence and accounting advisory services to leading private equity and corporate clients.

Mr. Villarreal has advised on over 100 transactions of varying complexity including domestic and cross-border acquisitions, divestitures, and carve-out transactions. His transaction due diligence experience spans a variety of deal sizes ranging from $10 million to $3 billion in enterprise value across a diverse set of industries including manufacturing and distribution, industrials, business services, energy, and infrastructure. He covers a wide range of M&A topics, including quality of earnings, net working capital optimization, seller readiness / divestiture planning, transaction analytics, purchase agreement support, and post-close integration.

Prior to his role at HamptonRock, Mr. Villarreal was the Houston diligence leader in Houlihan Lokey’s transaction advisory practice. During his tenure, he was instrumental in organically building and establishing a leading transaction advisory practice. Prior to Houlihan Lokey, Mr. Villarreal spent nearly a decade with PwC advising domestic and international clients from the Washington D.C., Sydney, Australia, and Houston offices.

Mr. Villarreal holds a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma. He is a CFA charterholder, a Certified Public Accountant, and holds Series 79, 63 FINRA securities licenses.
